Hi All!

I'm hoping to be an IT newbie soon, but not at Australian prices. Does anyone know of a reseller in the US that will ship to Australia? I have checked out quite a few sites, and all of them won't ship. The aussie dollar is doing well against the US dollar for once, so I want to take advantage of it while times are good :-)

I wish you better luck, but I contacted a couple of US resellers and was told that they could lose their Nokia accreditation if they shipped overseas. The fabled global free market seems only open to multinational corporations...

Second-hand market might be an option though.

Expansys (Hong Kong) had a page for the N800, priced at just under US$500, so I sent them a note pointing at their US site (US$250) and received a local quote for ~US$280. Their aussie branch might be willing to cut you a better price if the bottom-priced US deals are off bounds.

Thanks Peet. I might try my luck with Expansys here in Australia and see if they will do a similar deal.

In many countries there are companies that solve this sort of problem by maintaining an address in the US especially for foreigners or expats. For a fee, they forward your goods to you and the company you are buying from assumes you are in the US.

You might check with American expats to see if they know of such a company. I got my American medicine in Russia using such a service -- but it is out of business now.

Amazon.com sells the N800 and ships to Australia, I just got mine a few weeks back and cost about $350 AUS including post compared to $575 from expansys

I noticed there were a couple of sellers on Amazon that were happy to ship to Australia (except Amazon themselves). Here is the response from Expansys:

Thank you for your email enquiry.

We don't set the pricing, Nokia does. Usually the price is quite close
across the world but not so in this case. Nokia will only honour warranty
in Australia for units purchased in Australia.
Way to go Nokia.

When I get my last lot of coin sorted out, I'll buy from Amazon.

Good luck

So far my unit has been perfect, *knocks on wood* so I wouldn't like to send it international to get it fixed

Hi there,

Harris Technology has started selling the N800 locally in Oz. The price point is certainly not the best, but you would have the benefit of having local support.

Regards,

JamesK

Kinda a shame it's so expensive, other country's seem to have better prices for the same product.

To top that off the AUD is doing pretty well to the USD, I know its a more complicated than this, but would be good to have it at a realistic price.
