Dear all,

i have systeminfo widget installed. the processor status when idle ( WiFi disabled , 3G Disabled,Bluetooth off, desktop clock widget and systeminfo widget , and no appz opened) is ranging from 20-30% all the time. i just want to know how can i find the process that is occupying the processor.

Write "top" in xTerm. It will show all the programs that are using most of your processor.

you can install conky and find out processes that using cpu
or type in xterminal
top

you will see list of processes

Top kind of eats by itself. I also recommend Conky.

Howver, most likely culprit is the tracker or microb engine that formats conversations in the background.

I have a
/usr/bin/Xorg -logfile /tmp/Xorf.0.log -logverbose l -nol ....
that eats a lot of CPU at idle.

Whats that?

ok i did top but the maximum process is 3.7 % which is usr/bin/Xorg -logfile

i dont think this is the problem . what else should i do ?

when in top press p to list processes acc to cpu% usage n post the result here

Xorg is the standard server used by most modern distributions of Linux for managing graphical displays. Everything, from the n900's desktop to the microb browser to the media player, any software that wants to display something on the screen will go through Xorg to do it...
