Is there some fix via settings to boos your signal strength

A friend told me there is but cant remember how to do it.

Smells like BS to me.

I'm a novice at this kind of stuff
but would it be kind of similar to the script used to boost the fm transmitter?

FM works in a different way to 3G I believe. FM transmitters assign themselves different frequencies to not overlap with other stations. 3G is a lot more sophisticated. The FM script just opened up frequencies that were previously blocked due to legal restrictions didn't it?

I would assume it would be impossible to tweak via software, but definitively doable with external hardware if you would really want to... I remember back in the days, there used to be these kind of stickers you would apply inside your phones, near the battery to "boost" your signal but never found out if it was real or not...lol

the fm things completely different, certain wavelengths are reserved for military/aviation/police use etc, so the firmware will restrict you to legal frequencies in your area, extending that just removes the block, there is also a mod to increase power of the fm transmitter, again, due to legal issues.

afaik 3g signal is power variable, but this is controlled from the mast rather than the phone, if the mast thinks your signal is weak during a call it will instruct the handset to increase power output, boosting signal but hurting the battery. trying to override the power setting to max will drain your battery, and i believe the people who designed the 3g network foreseen this possibility and the mast will ignore your handset if it starts boosting its output without being instructed to. (i'm no expert and some/most/all of that may be wrong, this is just what i've picked up from others.)

those stickers were really just a coil of metal to act as an aerial extension, and most of the time they didn't really have an impact. but if you're interested in external hardware for boosting, i know vodafone uk were selling a home signal booster, plugs into the wall, looks kinda like a bt homehub, don't know much more than that!
