Do these work on the N900?

Where do you enter them?

I doubt it very much.

You can access most of that information in x with standard commands

http://ss64.com/bash/

or applications from the repo's.

These coded are for nokia running the standard o/s or symbian they are entered by dialing the number in the phone app.

Despite all this open-source chest-beating and puffery, how do you know one way or another whether there are or aren't secret codes (these codes or otherwise)? How can you even say that there aren't any if you can't look over the source code?

I didnt say they would not work, i just said I doubt they will work.

I provided to op with the means to test himself based on my experience of this type of code entered by dialing a number!

Once tested may be they can post back the results

Wish we could ask someone at Nokia--but then, given it's not open-source, how do you believe anything they say (ala the secret SMS messages)?

these codes are not secret.
they where invented so that people can get info like IMEI number out of Serise40 phones that didnt have any user interface other than dailing.

at least the *#06# one is officially published in nokia developer site (i remember i saw it there), so the developer gan sign his test applications.

and although the N900 can reveal that information in several other ways (e.g. the about screen in settings) the code seems to work too.
