You find the N900 LED impressive ? You obviously have not seen the N810 LED. That one was the mother of all LEDs - it was RGB(ish) but the kicker was that it was so strong there were reports of people not being able to sleep because of it.

Not to mention that the position of the LED on the corner of the device meant placing an N810 face down did little to subdue the light show. I once awoke confused as to why a lightning storm could possibly be so blue.

Interesting, RM-716 is a new one. Others I've bumped into are

- RX-71
- RM-581
- RM-660
- RM-680
- RM-690
- RM-696.

Edit: A bit of googling with RM-716 also reveals an RM-742.

In the bigger scheme of things I think the abundance of unearthed product codes would go to show that they're planning on ramping up from the one Maemo/MeeGo model a year even though it's likely that not all of those listed above will end up in the market.

Could it possibly be that we have finally solved the great mystery of RX-71? This file reveals us this:

It's of course possible that it was supposed to get to the market but maybe got scrapped at some point and relegated to a dev device.

When I disabled the light sensor module on my N900 the LED became super bright. I slept in a hotel near an airport and I thought the flashing lights were from cars and airplanes, until I realized it was the yellow charging light on my N900 lighting up the room.

RX should be the NLine device ... RX-51 anyone?

the RM i dont think jives with what we want, on this board.

the RX-71 seems like a successor to the N900.

i hope that they cram a few more things other than mfld in the device, although now that aava has one, i kinda want one too :P

Nokia doesn't seem to separate Linux and other devices with the RX and RM anymore. All those listed above are dug out from Meego sources, Linux kernel sources, bug reports etc. so they are or have been Maemo/MeeGo devices/dev boards.

RX was used for Maemo devices. The X may have stood for "experimental" for all I know.

Signs are that MeeGo devices have moved mainstream enough that they will be designated with RM.

the RX-71 seems like a successor to the N900.
That was certainly true two years ago. Whatever it is or was, odds are its hardware wouldn't seem so exciting today.

RX-71 wont see the day of light. RX-51 and RX-71 where out to be seen in code or in bug lists already in 2009.
RX-71 is just used for a development, just like RX-51/N900 is used in many cases.

Or they will be releasing some very very old hw.

EDIT: Seems like both jsa and sjgadsby got there first.

doesn't really prove iCDK is a phone though. Actually the test results for iCDK always say 3g hardware is not available, so I guess it's not a phone yet.

I'll be pissed if it's a slate with no qwerty or worse, a tablet.
But I'll buy irrespective, if only to keep the torch burning.
