Aagh! I have a friend coming to visit in the first half of December, a friend who will not want me to spend time fiddling with my n800 - she sees it as a PDA and assumes that it "just works".

Then I'm off working for 10 days, and may not have a good internet connection. Maybe none at all.

Looks as if my OS2008 won't be installed until 2008.

ehr... just because I'm anxious... isn't it a good reason?! list of the things I'm waiting in the next few days: Rock Shox Duke SL U-turn mtb fork, 8GB SDHC card ordered and payed on ebay over a month ago (####### customs!), OS2008.

now I guess you understand me..

More than likely a marketing decision. If I were them I would give the N810 a two week head start before releasing the OS to an established (and vocal) user base such as ours.

This will allow the initial reviews to be done using the 810. New hardware, new users, new OS = more enthusiastic posts.

Much better than... "I can't believe they didn't correct bug XYZ" or worse; the armchair, Monday morning quarterback comments about who they should market what to when...

It also gives developers another month to provide OS2008 apps and hopefully will forgo the "It doesn't run my XYZ app, I'm going to roll back" posts.

Also hopefully, enough members who qualified/won the discount will post so that N800 users will be able to decide when the best time to upgrade is VS. jumping in as soon as it's available.

Yup. A few days more, a few bugs less. I'm all for it :-)

If you visit the OS2008 "user site" with your N800, it says that OS2008 won't be available until December.

Welcome to ITT. You found the right thread, but you didn't read post #157 first before chiming in.

Looks like we are very close.....

I just got an email from Maemo.org regarding the "N810 maemo device program", so the N810 should be out today or tomorrow
