Not bad at all - thanks to everyone here for the detailed instructions. The upgrade ran first time on from the PPC Mac that I still had flasher installed on.

Now that it's installed, the system seems stable and quick. I don't have a good way to do performance benchmarking, but in general it seems much snappier. And having xterm right there without further installations was amazing.

Can't wait for the ports to start showing up. Hopefully the update will make my 800 even more useful than it already was.

Just thought I'd chime in on OS2008: flashing was very simple, and the new system is fantastic. I'm a new n800 user, and frankly I was a little disappointed by the lack of polish in OS2007. OS2008 is really what I expected when I bought the N800, and I couldn't be happier.

Not sure if the Nokia tablet team keeps up with this forum but great job! And thanks to all of you who got the word out about flashing 2008 onto N800s.

xmame works SWEET from command line- fast hot emulation.
xmaeme gui needed some hildon libs.
4 rivers and simple launcher work fine too.

...on edit- "shared folder" within file manager automatically attaches me to my windows network and lan network storage drive. I can stream.

This is the first time to my knowledge information I've posted has been intentionally misused by users for the purpose of misrepresenting themselves as N810 owners in order to get that .bin file from Nokia. The MAC address exposure is my fault and my responsibility but I'd hoped some people would show some restraint or respect in how the "leak" may have damaged my relationship with Nokia.

Thanks for that.

What did I wrong? I didn't post a link to your page or mentioned you in any way. I didn't say that I am a N810 owner! WLAN macs of N810's are available through pictures and other sources since weeks!

I didn't want to attack you in any way or bring you in a bad position.
