it seems to be that maps are either not available for downloads or intentionally disabled.

none of the region maps I was able to download, every time when I try to downlaod the map (no matter what region) error comes "failed to download map."

I've downloaded usa west and canada. Do you have enough room on your internal sd card?

not internal card. but on external card.

does it matter that I should have a bigger internal card? won't it take the external card if that is bigger?

That's odd. It downloads to the internal card only though. I think the going theory is that the 810 sees the internal 2Gb as a card. Testing right now, I don't have a lot of space left, I only have a 1Gb card, so I'm currently downloading Greece, we'll see if it completes.

Yep, just finished and it works. I have no clue why yours isn't working. What speed is your internet connection? Maybe it's timing out? Now if I could just get it to see my gps again.

Is it possible to download maps with PC and then transfer them manually to memory card? I didn't find any instructions from Wayfinder website.

Try removing the 128MB card completely and just put in your larger card into the internal slot (leave the 128mb one out for now). Then you should be able to run Map and download maps.

The way I see it, the first time you run Map it installs its config area onto the internal card. Then even if you swap the cards around, if it finds a card with its Map config on it, it will continue to use that one.

Thats why you need to remove the 128MB card completely, install the big card into the internal slot and run map again. I had the exact same problem and this fixed it.

Afterwards you might be able to remove all the map config from the 128MB card and swap the cards back around, I haven't tested that.

This trick works, after removing 128MB card, the maps installed with no problem.

Thanks,

I can confirm that if you download to one internal card, then switch it to the external slot, the maps app finds the maps still. Thus, just put the card you want the maps on into the internal slot for download.

Also, it seems you need somewhat more than the space the map takes (maybe 2x as much?) free before the download and install will succeed. I tried putting the USA east maps onto the device with about 900 MB free on the internal card, and it kept failing at the install point. Not 100% sure that was the problem, but it seems to be an issue.
