Go to thoughtfix's video and click post a video response and add your video to that.

Wow there are lots of really good entries. I wouldn't want to have to narrow it down to 5.

I posted as Luudite by the by and I'd like to play devil's advocate for 1 second. If getting people to sign up to vote brings more traffic to the site and awareness to the tablet, that's good no?

I know, it's still poopy to do. What can I say though, I always liked those points in English class when the "Oh no you didn't just say..." came about.
That's actually a good point I hadn't thought about. I guess it's a matter of whether the traffic sticks or not. Sure it increases with all the people voting but I'm not really sure how much new blood it would bring to the fold if they're just here b/c they're friends with the person they're voting for.

Anyway, it's not up to me. I just have to play by the rules like everybody else

My entry was one of those last day submissions.

I hadn't touched a camera nor iMovie in years. After lamenting last week if I should enter or not, I decided last weekend and ran out with the camera the past few days. Had some odd looks while videotaping and an unmarked car pull up on me. Weather was a bit tricky, couple iMovie crashes, depleted batteries, wet feet and a bunch of other snafus - haha.

Hadn't checked the new replies in the last week, while I was working on my little reply. Great entries out there. Nice job hedgecore, I like your entry.

I actually didn't realize we'll all get to vote. Thought it was just Dan and the other editors/contributors of the other sites.

Like hedgecore; I've seen a few of voting things online get pretty wild and ugly (where whole schools & families are jumping to vote for one submission that wasn't great at all objectively speaking) ... and it just became a matter of how many people can you rally together to hit submit. Hopefully Dan & Co have that in check ... so there won't be some type of voter 'fraud'.

Anyway. I had a lot of fun doing my little video.

Out of all the entries I could pick 5 favorites ... but a winner? That'd be a tough job.

Crap, I just typed out a page but it got lost :/

Thx for the kind words icerabbit. For about a day I thought I'd make the top five, now I just want to see how those that do fair. The response has been phenomenal and it really shows how strong this loose-knit community is. Not a single show of poor sportsmanship that I've seen, way to go everyone!

I don't envy the judges at all. I started looking through all the entries again and took different angles. Great editing is one thing, content is another, creativity, etc., all weigh in. Some seemed more "Why I want an N810" as opposed to the contest's "Show how you'd use it in every day life". Others were based on web site after website, and others came up with stuff I didn't even know they could do (I'm a 770 guy, never did get an N800). The heart-string tuggers (read: anything with a kid in it) made me think "aaawe. Do I *really* want it if it comes down to me & the kid?", hehehe. The one common theme though, was people like these things. I think there would've been a totally different crop of videos (pun intended!) if this had been for a 770 before the release. First, everyone would be using blocks of wood, hehehe. Second, it was pretty much a geek niche back then.

Regardless, I think we all got a prize out of seeing that we've got a kickass community here. We definately need to have more of these things, even if they're just for silly little prizes like Sushi USB keys.

Cheers,
Hedge.

I agree hedge. I suppose I can't say I don't want to win, but really it was just a lot of fun to clip the video together. Learned a lot of things, namely iMovie's limitations :/ Perhaps I'll be a video blogger yet. At any rate, if there was another run of movies, I'd do my best to add something to the mix

Also I've learned that muxed videos from a sony camera are aggrevating to the nth degree to work with.

in geekhood,
Matt

Hear hear! Couldn't have said it any better. I've really been the most impressed with the level of conduct by everyone involved.

I've only had a chance to watch Hedgecore's (impressive!) entry thus far, but I'm looking forward to sitting down to watch all the submissions tonight after my kids are asleep. I'm eager to see how others are using their tablets.

As a side note, I derived some amusement out of the fact that I was posting my second YouTube video on the one year anniversary of losing my car in a flood at work--the subject of my first YouTube video.
