Hi all,

I realise we're all sick of "cant sync clendar" threads but have we come up with a reasonable solution that doesnt require paying a subscription yet?

I used nuevasync happily until it became a sub service. Now I just cant get any love from syncing with google calendar - I know others have, I've tried the wiki (to death....) but it just does not work properly.

I get an initial sync, despite the device saying failed, but cant put up with having to re-input all my detail;s every time...

Is there another calendar app, one that can open .csv or ical files? Is there another nuevasync? is there another option?

I'm now 15 months into my two year contract and beginning to think 9 months is a long time to wait - yes I knew what I was buying but little issues like this detract from what is a fantastic piece of hardware in many respects - I would not get rid of my n900 - I just wouldnt use it as my everyday phone anymore.

Stu.

Sorry - question turned into rant...

The default calendar application can import ical (.ics) files. Clicking on one in the file browser lets you load it.

You can also import .ics files using pywebcalai. I have just written a small command line tool to import and export .ics files with the default calendar called maecaltool.

My idea is to use a script to import my business calendar and export my personal calendar as scheduled tasks. Then I can upload/download those files to an http server provided by my ISP.

It's not true SYNC as there is no conflict resolution, but at least there is visibility to all my time commitments. I do all my scheduling on the N900 itself for personal and my work uses Outlook. I don't even mess with Exchange support on N900 as I like to keep my device unchained from our corporate admins. Plus, I heard the Exchange support has bugs.

I have an Outlook macro that exports a specific category to ical and then I upload it to an http store. I can then download that to the N900 and import it using a scheduled job.
