Hello,

i think the internet tablet could be the solution for the old problem of wanting to look something up online, but dont´wanting to move my butt in front of the computer.
The N800 seems to be working quite well for this task, and it seems to be really cheap in the US when you are from Europe.
Does Nokia give an international warranty? If so, how long is it?
My university is using a VPN system to manage their wlan. To connect, you have to use a Cisco client. Is the Nokia N800 capable of connecting to a VPN secured network? Would be a great way to surf the web during lectures.
How are the price differences between countries. In which countries would you recommend to buy it?

Thank you in advance,
nikotin

Here's a link to the VPN client. I've never used it but it says Cisco so you might be in luck.

The price point is hilarious. (read: not.) In Canada, the N800 is over $400... in the US it's down to about $200... and our dollar is worth more currently. What bugs me is that Nokia manufactures the tablet themselves, it's not like they bought for a certain country at a certain price months ago from a third party supplier.

Here in France the situation is even more hilarious : we have TWO official Nokia online shops, both in French (nokia.fr and direct.nokia.com) listing the N800. One still has the launch price, 399€ + shipping (which is like 600 USD), the other recently fell to 259€ + shipping... thanks heavens for eBay

The price difference is a joke. If you compare the prices for apple products, you pay the exact same amount in euro as americans pay in dollar, but the euro is worth a lot more.

Is there an international warranty for Nokia products?

Lots of other threads have reported that Nokia told them "no international warranty", so I guess that's out of the question. But for the low price point you can get the N800 some places now it may be worth it.

It's perfect for this. Made for it. There's a google search box right there on the screen. I've looked up things in meetings and even at restaurant tables.

There are regional international warranties, for example if you buy a Nokia device from any country within the European Union you can take it to be repaired under warranty in any other country within the European Union.

As far as I know, NO portable device company offers global warranties that cover the entire planet.

As i can understand why there is no global warranty from a business standpoint, it does not consider the mobility of their costumers.
In which european country should you buy the N800 to get the european warranty and the best price?
