unfortunately, IT IS
1. problem is, the second I lift my finger, whichever items get shown directly where I point my finger will be selected automatically
2. I'd be lucky if all pop up menu have lots of items so I can scroll to opposite sides to see the item labels, but unfortunately like in media player, you get only 1 choice, which is "Delete", and the whole label is covered by my finger and there's no way I can read it (I get the chance to read it while I'm using stylus, and I'm not a typical stylus user)

Both ways work
-Hold stylus on screen and wait for popup
-->when popup is on screen then move stylus to frame of popup so that nothing is selected. If you move it outside of popup then it vanishes
-Hold stylus on screen and let it stay there and select item

What I'd expect is:
- Hold and wait for pop-up;
- lift stylus/finger off the screen so that pop-up is fully visible; nothing is selected, pop-up remains;
- tap on screen again to select item in pop-up;

problem is when people keep finger slanted while part of finger is touching the first option, that option gets selected. a blue highlight shos its selected. it should all be black. try holding with finger more or so parallel to screen. you will never repeat your problem. if blue highlight is there then ur finger needs to be less slanted.
hope this helps
But... that is exactly how it works
It can also work by holding your finger/stylus on list and select on release.
The thing is I always worked it by lifting finger/stylus and tapping to select
what you need to do is put your finger is EXACTLY on the menu border (make sure no item is highlighted, and it's not outside the menu so it won't disappear)
then you can just lift your finger and the menu will stay
but still, I'd prefer the way I described above. since this behaviour is uncomfortable, especially when in haste
