I... uhm what? What are you saying?

Ninja edit: As in jailbreaking from your n900? You'll have to port the binaries

Maybe...
Question is: If you have an N900, why would you want to also have an iPhone?

Because your Mrs can't work in CLI - I know, I have to get her an iPhone for the next contract upgrade.....

Well I'd certainly like to see more Ms.'s on this board.

Anyway, using h-e-n it should be theoretically possible but for that you need a jailbreak tool compiled for Linux/ARM. AFAIK all jailbreak tools currently available are binary only and compiled only for i386.
Bottom line - Could be possible but if you want such a tool you'll have to code it from scratch.

Like I said above - You don't. These binaries are for a completely different CPU architecture (i386). They won't work on the N900 (which uses ARM). You need the source code to port the tool unless you want to write it completely from scratch.

Doesn't jailbreaking an iPhone require you to build a new image (which is uncompressing the stock image, patching it, rebuilding a new, doing whatever post processing on it is needed etc), then flashing that to the iPhone via DFU?

If so, wouldn't that need at least a day (well, maybe less) on a 600MHz CPU?

questions like this puzzle me. yes, it's realistic but it is also entirely impractical. i get the proof of concept "cool" factor - but this just seems pointless.

am asking green poisen for the code. i doubt ill get far. and why would it be impractical? plenty of people ask can you jailbreak this and am like if i had a computer sure. while in my pocket sits a mini computer. am not sure about the speed issue due to a 600mhz processor.
