Hi is there a command that you can enter into xterm that will go through the O.S. and rebuild any inconsistancies or check if there is files missing and report what needs to be installed?

Some kind of magic 'fix everthing command'?

You can use 'fsck' to check the consistency of the filesystem and 'ap-get install' to check your packages are all in order apart from that, no.

pro-tips:

1. Dont delete random files
2. Make backups

lol yeah a magic fix everything command would be brilliant lol i've made backups and don't delete random files so looks like a flashing is in order. couple of weeks ago i had to reflash because a failed power kernel remove left it in a reboot loop, i could only flash the root and not emmc as it said device not recognised?? wondered if there was any remedial work i could do whilst it's like this to safe guard another failed emmc flash? i.e. format emmc- by going into file manager and formatting from there.
i'm basing this on last failed attempt to flash and don't know for sure wether it will fail again?

You may run the following to check if the package system has any broken dependencies:

Code:
apt-get check
If there's any installation problem occurred before you may resume it by:

Code:
dpkg --configure -a
Better yet, if you know the problematic package in question, you may try the following:

Code:
apt-get install --fix-missing <package name>
Of course, it's chance that the dependencies are broken beyond the help of automatic repairing. You'd need to include some force options that is varying case by base.

cheers did apt-get check and it came back with
BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/home/user # apt-get check

Then the system is not currently under the problem with package dependency.

What exact is the problem you face can you share?

Your rootfs image has turned to ***, you need to reflash pronto. Reflash both EMMC and ROOTFS.
