No, they seem not to.

It's odd that they are actively trying to pin down the 'problem' in the most successful phone OS to date, and one that continues to grow in popularity.

I think that articles like this sell ad space, but it also that it would be foolish to base one's opinions on them.

Sure. It attempts to twist unfulfilled expectations of future details into a rant about Androids openness...

It's stupid, man.

3) those custom rom you mentioned are they froyo, gingerbread or honeycomb?
4) 'rootable'?

Edit: Is this is the one, specification?
Edit: would this capable of the ipv6 beta test?

1) 512 mb
2) No, it has a 2gb (1.7) partion for apps. No need for apps2sd or anything like that. About 13gb leftover for storage (similar to N900)
3) eclair, froyo, beta gingerbread, haven't seen any honeycomb
4) yes, variety of methods, for me z4root.

That's the one. I don't believe any android is capable of ipv6 on 3g, only wifi, so no beta test.

Bonus: It has 1900mhz band, which means it can get 3g on AT&T in some areas, so a little future proof perhaps.

I don't have 3g data (tmo wants me to upgrade) but at my sister's house tonight it only lost a percent or two in a couple hours, my N900 tends to chew through the battery when I'm there. So, impressed so far with battery life on standby, should last the same or better under load.

A few weeks with my Motorola Xoom, a few days with my Motorola Atrix... I gotta say that Honeycomb is largely unfinished and that the Atrix, while being an amazing piece of kit isn't quite where I need it to be either.

But... the screen is quite nice, my Captivate's screen was better.

And the Xoom, it's a playground for the anti-iPad types, but it feels unfinished as well. But it's a competent piece of kit.

The HTC flyer is looking mighty sweet:

3G, 32GB, and getting honeycomb (hopefully when it's more mature)...

Plus it has an active digitizer for pen input and a nice suite of pen-ready apps. Nice!

A lot of people already received theirs and many more waiting for delivery here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...014048&page=21

I think the majority are in the UK.

This comment is for the Eee Tab Transformer without the keyboard attachment:
"10hrs 41mins... had wifi on all day (not on standby, it's been connected all that time), been viewing lots of videos, streaming music, games, reading pdfs/comics, lots of multitasking basically, heavy usage, screen has been on at least 9hrs+ and its still got 32% battery left. I'm quite impressed."

And someone was already able to get Super User on the Transformer... Root soon

This is awesome. The reviews are quite good, and the price is amazing.

I am still fretting over what represents the optimal screen size, having just returned from a 12 hour train journey from the French Alps to London. While my 5” Dell Streak performed perfectly for all that I wanted to do, there is always the nagging doubt that something else would be better.

So I popped in to PC World today and checked out the new iPad2 and some tablets both 10” and 7”.

I really do think that for the above use scenario - in aircraft style cramped seats and a seat back tray - that the iPad/10” size is just not practical. It is cumbersome to remove and replace in a carry bag. If the carry bag is on the tray then the space in which to hold it is much reduced.

A 7” would seem to be the appropriate size in those conditions. But having said that there is no benefit over the Streak for eBook reading, watching YouTube downloads and music listening. Where the 7” comes into its own would be for high definition video watching. Web browsing on the train/plane is not quite here yet.

So I guess my conclusion is that we need a fleet of these things. A 5” in the pocket when moving round, a 7” for long journeys and the sofa and a 10” for the sofa only. That may seem extravagant but the way prices are falling, say £300 each, that is probably not a bad combined deal.

Also I am still to be convinced by the benefits of a tablet greater than 7” when set against the awkward handling. Which brings us back to personal use scenario.
