Ok, so like most my phone is my pride and joy, when something is up with it, i feel awful!
Ok so it started when i was trying to download apps from app manager, i wasnt able to and so i done a couple of things somy phone would recognise a maemo update which i thought i needed. It came up and i installed/downloaded maemo 5 (i made a backup as reccommended before i did this) It took ages to install/download and when rebooted my phone was without any contacts/pics/videos/messages which is my worst nightmare. Maybe if i left it for a while these things would of reappeared. Some things did reappear but not my contacts/messages. I then restored my backup and i got some things back but not my contacts, i had to copy them from my sim, meaning i lost about a years worth of contacts. Ive downlloaded lots of apps now but iv had big problems with my messaging (conversations) First thing i noticed was my signal going regularly, no signal.
Now my most used contact is my girlfriend and everytime i send her a message it appears ad pending despite the fact she recieves them, i recieve hers as normal and when i close the conversation i cannot find it again, it disappears. Its only when she sends me another one i open it up and none of my messages have been saved and even some of hers, ive tried re adding the contact but nothing has changed, its now extremely difficult to have a normal conversation through text with her.
Please could you help me, i am a techno freak when it comes to phones. Please if ay advice is to do with xterm, tell me consequences of the commands and be as simple as possible please. Its only my most used contact i have this problem with, all other conversations run as normal.

Few things to mention i did try a command called sudo gainroot when my phone couldnt download apps, i think it came up with something like RD3 break phone. or something.
Also if anyone could tell me what i did in order to wipe my contacts?!

to apply sudo gainroot you have to install rootsh from app manager. Problem from your conversation is normal. just restart the device

If a reboot doesn't help, it could be a corrupt database. Check this: talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=58984&highlight=Conversations+mes sages

Ok, thankyou. It looks like the only way to solve this is by using commands on xterm to fix the corrupt database. Scared to do this as i have no idea what i am doing. I am literally going to just copy the commands from this link?

Also any ideas as to why this probem has occurred from restoring a backup? When i made the back, the database was not corrupted. And how come just one contact?

I have restarted, problem is worsening. By a reboot do you just mean turn off and on?

I did not have the some of the problems listed, my contacts were fine, but I finally found a fix for the various problems I was having with Conversations staying pending & disappearing.

See my post here for details
