Well this is all because Nokia crippled apt so that people wouldn't use it to download Ovi Store applications (and other paid stuff) using apt-get, BUT they kept the source for the old version of apt.
You can solve this problem by compiling the source, or giving me about 5 minutes to find the deb file and upload it.

so would this apt ( in deb) allow me to apt-get install my paid apps in ovi store?
The Following User Says Thank You to laasonen For This Useful Post: | ||
I just purchased Joikuspot premium but cannot get it to install.
On my N900, clicking on the install file opens the application manager but then immediately gives the error 'operation failed'. Tried this a number of times and have tried after restarting my N900.
So, I added what I think is the repository info, and tried to install through X-terminal using apt-get install joikuspot. But this gives an error:
E: Handler silently failed
I'm not sure if I entered the repository info right but tried apt-cache search joikuspot and it is does list the program.
I really know very much about Linux/N900 and done the above from Google but now I am out of ideas? So any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Phil
