Hi

I just purchased Joikuspot premium but cannot get it to install.

On my N900, clicking on the install file opens the application manager but then immediately gives the error 'operation failed'. Tried this a number of times and have tried after restarting my N900.

So, I added what I think is the repository info, and tried to install through X-terminal using apt-get install joikuspot. But this gives an error:
E: Handler silently failed

I'm not sure if I entered the repository info right but tried apt-cache search joikuspot and it is does list the program.

I really know very much about Linux/N900 and done the above from Google but now I am out of ideas? So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phil

Well this is all because Nokia crippled apt so that people wouldn't use it to download Ovi Store applications (and other paid stuff) using apt-get, BUT they kept the source for the old version of apt.
You can solve this problem by compiling the source, or giving me about 5 minutes to find the deb file and upload it.

Code:
Package: apt
Pin: version 1
Pin-Priority: 1001
Make a file called preferences in /etc/apt/ and paste the code above in it, this should pin apt so that it doesn't get upgraded, remember to remove the file when upgrading to a newer release (when it's available)

Anybody please send me the old apt deb package? I don't want to get things from ovi store, I just hate having a crippled version.

BTW thanks for the pinning info - I just pinned fcam-drivers 1.0.5-1 (from Titan) and touchsearch 2.2-2

im getting this error while trying to install fennec! guis are not for me.

i, too, would really really like a non-crippled apt. if anyone can point me to the source code, or better yet the deb mdog posted, that would be lovely.

fwiw, this works for me, but its pretty old. id rather have the latest up until the crippling hack. also, thanks for the apt prefs.

you have to remove mp-fremantle-002-pr first.

I couldn't even see paid ones with apt-cache, but it installs and searches free packages from ovi store nicely

MAG has hosted the .deb here.

Still searching for the source
