As most people will know, Ben was one of our winners last time and his prize was to fly all the way from Hong Kong to Dublin to hang out at the MeeGo conference. Not only was he a winner in the Maemo coding competition, but also a winner in Nokia's own 'Calling all Innovators' app competition aswell. So 2010 was a double lucky year for Ben, I hope 2011 is even better
haha , Thanks!

yes , I am very lucky on last year. The trip to Ireland is very exciting. I hope that the winners in this year will also enjoy their trip to MeeGo conference.

Recently I am writing a GTD software for MeeGo / general Linux desktop (with some revolution on interface) , but I don't think it can be finished within the contest period.. that is why I choose to donate instead of entering the contest.

Does a Statusbar Applet fit in the Desktop Category?

I think so. (moreover if it doesn't fit any others categories)

I began developing my application Conky Layout Switcher targeting System & Utilities. It is still something like a Utilities to learn more about your System.
But it depends and needs Conky. And Conky is in the "Desktop" repositories at the Application Manager. Because of that I put mine on the same category. And after reading several wikis about Statusbar Applets I found that they are mostly described and documented with Desktop widgets together: Writing Desktop Widgets

So perhaps I will place my Application to the Desktop Category...

...any protests?

WOW! I've seen the screenshots and have to test it myself right now without reading the text above. This looks tooooo promising... I missed a editor with a possibility to scroll fast to the bottom of a document. Hope the syntax highlighting works well with conky config files...

Fierce competition!

Currently installing...

Edit: Okay, still needs some polishing. But very promising... I'm still impressed!

Great submission by trx! Everything submitted has been high quality so far

Hmm.. Im not sure the dark grey background is helping the screenshots though, zehjotkah. There was some talk of a site redesign a few pages back - Is a redesign still on the cards or is everyone happy to keep the site design what it is? For example, did anyone reach out to wazd's offer? I know showing off everyone's work in the best way is something you care a lot about

To be honest, with the dark background, large dark header, and text colours it makes the whole page feel a bit dull and lifeless to me. I think even a simple white background would make a big difference, make the page more look so much more vibrant, and help showcase of everyone's good work better.

I don't mean to be mean, just throwing it out there .. Other than that one worry the rest of the site looks great

In other news, I noticed the number of wiki views took a big leap since this morning! I checked twitter and noticed @meegofl gave it a mention so I assume that's why. Definitely getting the competition known to people At the same time, it also means there's a higher need to get prize fund distribution, prizes etc locked down.

Thanks Kojacker. I like your (already removed) idea to move the Pictures a little bit... It's a good reasoning. You shouldn't remove such things by editing your post.

But we need text before the Pictures.

What about adding a additional "Short abstract" to each submission?

We could put the Picture section below this short abstract and place the Details about the application after.

This way we could get a better Layout:
[Title]
[Submitted by]
[platform]
[short abstract]
[PICTURES]
[Details (with the long text)]
Currently we have:
[Title]
[Submitted by]
[platform]
[Details (with the long text)]
[PICTURES]

Details are as important as Pictures. Please, don't keep it short.

Yes, we still want to redesign the page, and every idea is very welcome.
But the guy doing all the backend stuff is currently ill and I don't have the knowledge to do it.
