I recently set up a sipgate account as my VoIP through google voice...
Everytime i attempt to input my email and password, which are what I used to set up my sipgate account, it keeps giving me a "not signed in" subtext. I didn't do anything to the phone in the way of applications, so I don't know whether or not I need to download something in order to use the SIP interface provided by maemo under the settings group "VoIP/IM accounts"; I haven't played with any of the settings.

I've seen past threads on the subject, but they're a little outdated and the format of sipgate's site has changed. Any help would be great, thanks.

Regular email and the password u used to create the sipgate account are not sip credentials. You go to you sipgate account and get sip id (which is a numeric code) and the password. Put those in the sip client.

Thanks for the response,

All that I can find is an account #, which I tried along with my password with and without the @domain and it still just attempts a sign in for a few seconds then stops and posts the new SIP account with the "not signed in" subtext. I've emailed sipgate asking for some instructions, but could it be that there's some kind of lock on SIP accounts either from my service provider or some program I haven't installed on my phone?

Go to https://secure.sipgate.com/settings/phone
Hover over your VOIP phone. You get a menu. Click on "SIP Credentials". These are your SIP user id and password. Assuming that the SIP-ID is 123456k0 and SIP-Password is PASSWD1, enter
Code:
123456k0@sipgate.com
in the Address field and
Code:
PASSWD1
in the password field.

cheers,
-m

I finally got it, for some reason the 'sip credentials' link kept showing me my email and google voice number and not my id and password; i figure it took a day or so to verify my account. thanks a lot, i really appreciate it.

thanks again rosh, the registration lag made it take longer to figure out.
