i was trying to install nfsu.
i downloaded preenv,nfsu installer and also the .ipk file.
next i used the nfsu installer to install the ipk file..it started working and a black blank page appeared and sysytem got hung.
for a long time it didnt work.so rebooted the phone. then again i tried installing via nfsu installer. now it shows
STEP 1: sanity check...FAILED
directory /home/user/games/nfs/already exist
uninstall previous installation before!
Also i made a mistake making a folder series of /home/user/application/nfsu
and kept the file inside it.
please help me am totally screwed..i just wanted to use my N900 at its best..

i will suggest you to calm down , as pros and devs are either offline or busy in making new stuff for n900 :P

Try using the wgames, it's from the same maker as the nfsu installer and is able to install other WebOS games too.

i hav a folder named "game" which i want to dlt..bt wen i try it says its readonly..
i want to delete that file too..

this wasnt der before..it came aftr the instalation crushed in btwn..wen i retry they want me to delete the previous instalation which is not there in application manager.

Personally I would suggest you get the debain version of WebOS game files and install it that way, its the easiest method that works 100% of the time.

Here's:

Obviously you will need Preenv already installed on your N900.

Firstly google it to find the debian links to WebOS games, download them and move them to your MyDocs folder.

Secondly get the "appinstaller" app from application manager, you might have to enable extras_testing or extras_devel for it. The app is perfect, so don't worry, enable whatever you have to and install this app.

Thirdly, go to your MyDocs and click any WebOS game file that you just moved there, it will open app manager and you will eventually be asked if you want to install this game, obviously tick you agree and click yes.

That's it! (See notes below, VERY important, read them)

This will be a slow or fast process depending on the game size, but even when it is taking very long, such as on big game files (80mb+), do not touch the phone at all! The phone might appear to have crashed or be unresponsive, but it is still installing the file, the display just doesn't respond much until the file is done.

Sometimes, for the very large files it can take 20+ mintues to install. Just wait patiently, do not try to use the phone until the installation is completed, just check the phone every 5 mintues or so to see if it is still on the installing stage or you have the "completed" message on app manager. One more thing, the bar will not fill up, so it looks like you are at the start of the installation, again that is a display issue, in fact the files are still being installed, the bar NEVER fills up, so just let it do its thing.

I have personally done this many times with ease and I love it so much that I edited my firmare to give me about 8GB of application installing space. Now I have about 4.5GB of Web OS games installed on my phone, and 3.5gb left free for future games, so this method works and you will love it.

prozac..help me with my real problem dear..its that i did a mistake switching off d device while it was installing..and it made a folder games and inside it is dis folder for nfsu..bt game didnt get installed.so wen i retry to install it tells to uninstall d previous one..dats my problem..again i cant delete the folder games as it is read only..

try to delete as root maybe or try and change it with
chmod a+w /the/file/path
