on lager files the download speed decreases @ about 150mb. until this size the speed is about 600kB/s, afterwards it decreases permanently until it`s down @ ~140kB/s. i have no swap on memory card.
my system: n800, os2007 latest version, kingston sdhc 8GB class6 in external slot.
both cards, internal and external are formated with file manager of the os.
help me, please. i have searched intensely in the forum, but founded no solution.

I don't have any answers, but what kind of a file transfer is this? I'd assume Wi-Fi... from the web browser? http? ftp? Does it make any difference which card/slot you are downloading to? Are the cards close to being full?

I could probably do the math... but about how long into the download are you when it starts to slow... 4 minutes or so?

thanx for the reply technut!

i download mp3 (ftp running with xampp on home pc) over wifi at external slot (kingston 8GB sdhc cl.6). with maemo-ftp, opera and microb, all with the same result. internal slot is original nokia 128mb card, it is now all used for swap. after downloading a short time (about 30 seconds) the speed decreases down do 140kB/s. after a reboot i have the full speed (~600kB/s) back for a short time. the same behavour i have @ internet, so it isn`t just a problem with the ftp server in home network. mem and cpu are not working on full capacity. router is asus wl500gp with openwrt on it.
should i reflash the n800? i spent a lot of time for installing all apps so i`m not very happy about this way, but if i find no other solution...

i did some testing an loging and i think i found the problem:

every time when the swap is full (112mb @ internal slot), the down speed falls. swap won`t clean itselfs, is this behavour normal? what can i do to drive the swap to clean itselfs after its full?

Sorry I couldn't offer any suggestions. But test after each application as you re-install them. That way you can probably figure out which one is the problem.

hmm, after a fresh reflash problem was back again after downloading about 200mb. so i tried some things. i disabled the wifi an enabled it again and had full speed back. maybe the problem is on the openwrt router. i use wpa-psk encryption, maybe the router or the openwrt firmware can`t handle this well. i will flash the router with original asus firmware and see if the problem still resists. but at now i will install all the lost apps again.
