It's unfortunately more effort than it should be.

Tap Menu / Internet call / DTMF dialing.

1. Select red pill mode
2. open the install page http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org/#install2
3. click on the "install the installer from here" link
4. File download dialogue box, I select "open"
5. File downloads
6. Install? dialogue box, I select "ok"

I get "unable to install. some packages required for the installation are missing".

If I click on details, I see:
libatk
libc6
libcairo2
libdubus
libdbus-glib
libgconf
libglib
libgtk
libhildonmime
libosso
libpango
(I left out the version numbers on the lib files above)

Obviously this can be done, because many of you are successful. What am I doing wrong?
I've the same problem

Are you guys using OS 2008 or the beta. I had a problem installing with the beta, but the final OS 2008 worked for me.

My OS2008 came preinstalled from Nokia, so I'm quite certain its not a beta.

Obviously the problem is that there are libraries not yet installed. Possibly the users that are successful have alread installed them for some other reason.

I'm hoping that the required libraries are among those that are listed in the N800's internal repository list, but I don't know which ones. I really need generic SIP phone access, so this update looks like something I'd like to have.

You don't need the rtcomm beta for this. OS2008 comes with the latest stable release of rtcomm with SIP support pre-installed.

I'm having the same issue. Rather frustrating, actually.

General: I've read that here, but my phone application doesn't have the drop-down options for generic SIP. When I start up Internet Call, it asks me if to define an account. When I do that, the only options are Google Talk and Jabber. The screen shots on the opening of this thread show an option for SIP.

How can I get that option?
