"status database area is locked by another process"

That usually means that you tried to install from xterm while the application manager was open. Just close application manager before using dpkg or apt-get

Keep trying! It get easier.

HA. I feel like an idiot.

Finally got it installed. I just used the Application Manager to download the dependencies and then installed the .debs in order. It works...now I want to see what I can do with it

All you have to do is type in xterm:
convert file.pdf file.jpg
and you already have what you want.
this sounds great, but i'm a linux noob. it says it can't locate the file. my pdf is on my external card...

I think minimum= 0 and maximum = 2 should be fine.
I have found that values of 0.5 and 1.5 work well on the tablet. Those allow you to draw lines that range between the next smaller line setting and the next larger line setting and also result in the shape recognition drawing shapes with line thicknesses that are the similar to your drawn line.

The source pdf file name needs to include to complete directory path or be in your current directory. The xterm drops you into the /home/user/ directory when you start it. You either need to change your current directory to the one that your file is in, move your file to /home/user/ (which show up as the very top level of the internal memory in the File Manager) or specify the entire directory name in the convert command.

Hint: the two other memory locations are hidden in /media/mmc1/ and /media/mmc2/ ... the mmc1 is the removable external memory card and mmc2 is the internal memory card (that is removable on the N800 but not on the N810).

Well, these are very early experimental versions. That is the reason for them to be tricky to install ... not really anything specific to Linux. I am certain that once all the rough edges are filed down, anidel will bundle things up into a xournal.install file that will give one-click install goodness through the GUI.

I just finished to revise the Xournal Manual for the Maemo version.
I am currently messing up with the code in order to have a much more cleaner Maemo version package that also cleanly integrates with the upstream version of Xournal.

Thus, instead of repackaging the whole deb file, I am giving you a direct link to the help file:

http://mango.dia.unisa.it/maemo/xournal.xml

Just download it and put it into the following directory:

/usr/share/osso-help/en_GB
(en_US if you are in the US, it_IT for italians and so on...)

I am expecting feedback on the help file too.
Also translators are more than welcome!
