2nd best phone I ever owned (next to Nokia 3120 - meaning it did what it was meant to do perfectly). I purchased it the first week it came out, I flew out to NY to the Flagship store and picked one up. I knew EXACTLY what I was getting into and I I am very pleased with everything.

HTC Wildfire > HTC Desire > Nokia N900 ... i'll buy another one even if it explodes for unknown reasons...

It's just perfect.

At least, it doesn't restart when i'm surfing like the Desire does and i can really use the GPS. (Yes, the Desire restarts even there).

Quite simply put, the fact this is my primary phone almost two years since it came out speaks volumes. I have an android phone for work and the only thing I use more on that phone than my N900 is Google Navigation. I really wish they'd brought over the full Ovi Maps experience to the N900. Might be my only regret with it so far.

Other than that the openess is something else, once you use this phone and try using an iphone or an android you quickly feel how limiting they are. It still sets it years ahead of other devices. Fcam and the things I can do with it wow my photo nerd friends, thats just one example. I hate to say it but its looking like the N9 is going to be my last Nokia. I can deal with a good vkb which by all reports it is supposed to have, but I will not deal with anything closed source like wp7. Android will have to suffice after my N9, but I won't be ecstatic about it.

a friend told me about this phone. I was using a blackberry at the time. I read about how open it was and bought it right after release from newegg. 12/08/09 Paid $560. Still using it without a problem. Love the keyboard and how well it still operates. The only problem that's slowly becoming more important is surfing the net. The processor speed, lack of flash and browser are slowly becoming obsolete as compared to android. I'm afraid I will be moving onto an Android soon but to say I regret having the n900.......NO!!!!!!.

i don't regret it. i have owned a 3210, 3310, 5510, 6230, cingular 8125, and htc kaiser. i even bought an ipod touch 4g out of curiousity but sold it to my aunt with some sales pitch that i'll turn it into a cheaper iphone 4 by buying apple peel. i got an n900 even though i barely know what open source is. all i know is you're free to do whatever you want. glad i made the right decision.

even till now, i'm having a hard time finding my next phone. n900 set the bar too high in meeting my expectation for a new device. i'm just leaning over android because of flash, ym/skype video call, and the support its getting. the closest device that passed my taste are mytouch 4g slide and sharp aquos 007sh...
