I'd like to know that too. Life's too short for tar and cp. Bring on the repo debs.

My previous offer still stands to give help as needed with optifying for maemofication.

I am willing to optify / upload to repo if someone can point me to the right direction on how doing that on a theme.

It's probably best to start from a working .deb package and go from there.

I haven't worked on themes at all but in principle they shouldn't be different from an app installation. You can either put the bigger files into /opt somewhere in the install and then symlink to them in postinst or maybe links, or you can (in some cases) place the whole tree in /opt/maemo/ as if it was in / and it will work...not sure if that second approach will work with themes, though.

So you either move/link the bigger files in the install and postinst portion of your debian package scripts, or run the http://maemo.org/packages/view/maemo-optify/ utility over it. I've not used the utility, but many people have and i assume it works fairly well.

Umm, that doesn't say how to upload a theme to a repository.
It's about installing the theme on the device.

Sorry, is it creating the deb package for the theme that you need to know or just how to optify it once completed?

Both.

I just made a proper deb file out of theme maker, BUT the new Application Icons(from the new firmware) are still blue although I have added the green ones on the correct folder.
So, ThemeMaker needs an update, or I need to build the deb manually.

I am trying to build it manually through the device, hope it works.

Worst case scenario then is you fix the deb that ThemeMaker produces. You have to upload the source package to the autobuilder to get it built, anyway, so if ThemeMaker just spits out a .deb you have to extract it and modify it and upload that.

We can take this to private messages, IM, or IRC if you like. Please explain what you have now and we can go from there.

Theme updated, check fist post for download.

What's new:
  • Theme is now .deb format
  • New green App Manager icons
  • New matrix thumbnail

Thanks to Flandry for the assistance.
