install "rootsh" from the app manager

2. Launch terminal application from menu (the one with "$-" icon)

3. Type "sudo gainroot" without the quotes at the prompt

4. Type: dpkg -i MyDocs/.documents/prismic_1.4.4_armel.deb

5. Application should install by itself via X terminal

6. Check your menu and you'll see the app there

.......why doesn't it work..?!?!?!?

Yes - I have rootsh installed....!!

I followed the above to a T but all I get is: 'dpkg: need an action option'...... what does that mean...?!?!?!?

That's the error I get if I miss out the "-i" flag to dpkg. Make sure you've got the spaces in the correct places as well (that seems to cause problems for some people copying instructions from here).

hmmmm i'm not beleiving your file is here :

MyDocs/.documents/prismic_1.4.4_armel.deb
it would either be
./MyDocs/.documents/prismic_1.4.4_armel.deb
or

/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/prismic_1.4.4_armel.deb
