Well, the UI is very simple I think it should be possible
to add autoration support.

I don't think this app is the right place to add an
application search.
But I can make a desktop widget for that. Ok?

App launcher with search - be it a desktop widget or status bar applet - will be really useful and appreciated by many users.

Thank you,

This is strange!
Can you deselect everything except conversations and
search with a query which is definitly in your text messages,
like "e" for example.

No indexing, because it is quite fast and I don't need to
update a index. But yes for a general purpose desktop search
I would prefere some indexing framework (like tracker for example).
Competition or not, there are still users which cannot use
this app. This bothers me and I want to get this fixed.

I understand that maybe flash 64GB (the max capacity for the N900) might not neccesary a index...

...but this I do not understand. You might want to start having this (a application for the purposes stated) and a desktop widget for applications but you at one point should combine them and at the end have a application that runs in the background that allows you instant search for whatever you want on demand (such like I stated Spotlight (OSX and iOS 4) and Windows Search (WIndows Vista and 7).

Developing two applications for some more special searches is
easier and less time consuming than one general purpose
search. Designing and developing something flexible and
extensible (plugable modules for new datasources, filetypes,
applications ...) like spotlight for example would be a great
project but far away from the time I can afford.

Of course, I could add the application search in scout.
But scout is meant to be an application for contact and
conversation related searches. Example usecase:
You can only remember a part from a phone number
and you don't know if this number is in your contacts or
someone sent you the number in message.
Would you expect something valueable from the
results from the application search?

And what happens if you enable only the conversation
search or only the calendar search?

Some typical 'standard user' use-case feedback.

Searching for a Calendar event now works perfectly.

I can search and find any text embedded in any 'Calendar' entry.
Although it takes exactly 4 min to search my 12 years of calender entries, quite OK, but slower than the old Palm device.

Selecting the calender entry, will display a 'screen capture' of the contents, (ie cannot be scrolled).
Touching the 'Calendar' tab in this 'screen capture' will take you directly to the calendar event.
From there you can edit or scroll the contents. OK.

The search will also find any text embedded in a 'note' entry.
Selecting the note entry, will display a 'screen capture' of the contents, (ie cannot be scrolled).
Touching the 'Calendar' tab in this 'notes screen capture' will take you to a random calendar event,
but I wanted it to point to the searched 'note' item, not a calendar item.
So I then try & select the status bar on top, then select 'go to notes', but this does not take me to the searched note item.

Sometimes I just want to search my notes (not all the calendar), but there is no option to do so in 'settings'.

Some constructive feedback, and further difficult challenges should you wish make continuous improvements.

There is allot of focus for this forum, so you must be onto something great.
Cheers,
Jackchat @ Australia.
