Do you understand how to ask specific questions or explain what you don't understand?

The initial setup is painfully slow. Once you have completeted the setup, everything will be faster after the initial load. The OS will be even faster after your first reboot. I use a 2GB class 2 card and system speed is more than reasonably fast. The first setup is a pain.......I have to use the wireless menu (proximity sensor) to trick the droid into knowing that I pressed it.....after pressing it several times. Oh well....I have been using NITDroid since the manual install (no 3Dfx, broken wifi, live wallpapers and sluggish OS performance days) releases and I am just glad that the auto installer came into existence for those who are don't want to take the manual install risk. Asphalt 5 (Vibrant Edition), N.O.V.A. and Modern Combat are fantastic. I identified my phone as the Droid X on the Gameloft site. Free legal demos for all:

Enjoy!

It took less than 2 minutes to format my 2GB class 2 card. When it seemed to take too long, I pressed enter and if it was failing, it would let me know on the new line that was created when I pressed enter. If it was still formatting, nothing would show on the new line. What I had to do one time is go to file manager, long press on my memory card and press format. Then I started the NITDroid installer and it formatted my empty SD card and everything went smooth and quickly. If you exit out of the auto installer and your memory card no longer shows in the file manager, reboot the N900 and it should show next time THEN do the sd format in file manager then the auto installer. I hope this helps.

Endadget is reporting the cellular is actually working on NitDroid?

"Fully-functional Android port for N900 threatens to beat N9 to market"

http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/27/f...-beat-n9-to-m/

Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks

@chase15 use : apt-get update , then try again .

yes the modem works , but audio routing wasn't working AFAIK , meaning on the build the developer was using , he can make a call to another phone (target phone will ring only), but he can't talk yet .

GSM radio support is still experimental. DJ Steve wont release till it's stable (rightly so IMHO). the video was a proof of concept. it will happen, though. Don't worry =)

The people at engadget don't know what they are talking about. The latest NITDroid is NOT fully functional (camera, gps etc., phone, 3g data) and the version that was shown on video is not publicly released OR fully functional within itself either. Engadget just used to video to make a cheap negative shot at Meego/Maemo.

Side note: Why would anyone that understands what Maemo/Meego have to offer ditch either OS in favor of Android? (unless they got duped into thinking Maemo/Meego was a phone OS...)? Right now my N900 is booted into Android awaiting me to finish a cop chase in Asphalt 5. Would I chose Android even if it was fully functional and never go back to Maemo? No. Why would I limit myself and lose the mobile computing aspect that makes the N900 what it is... What does an Android port on the N900 have to do with the N9 that runs Meego....nothing except boost Engadgets agenda to try to make people think Android (in any condition) is a better option than Meego/Maemo/the N9.
