I don't think you'll get any favourable result any way if you are looking to make (a little) hard cash for you efforts.
- Publishing by OVI will not make you any money
- Nag screens will only annoy people and force them to either delete the app, or install from an alternative source
- Donateware will only earn you at best a couple of hundred quid.
The last option will provide you with immeasurable karma and convey a lovely warm feeling across the community. I feel that Maemo's never really been about money, rather how far can the hobby platform be pushed. It's come a remarkable way despite the presence of negativity from those frustrated with what they have and unable to do anything about it.
If there's ever another coding competition - enter the application ; I'd hazard a guess that it's bound to win it's category.

Btw, going "the Ovi route" introduce yet another infamous 'pain point' that many of us have experienced. It's not available in all countries (yet?), their payment system had a few issues, on top of a few niggling UI/UX issues...
