Just saw new improvements in battery grath menu, donno what it tries to tell me but looks good.
Can you make some sort of grath what % of energy usage takes the screen, what % takes a wifi etc?

The bottom graph is the drain rate per hour calculated at each battery capacity event. It is the same value you would see in the battery widget. Sadly BME or HAL won't report new battery capacity changes when the screen is off or locked so it isn't possible to query at regular intervals to show a smooth drain graph and instead you get long ramps when you turn the device on after screen has been off for a while. One day I will see if direct BME access can be used.



I doubt it. I can query the overall instantaneous current draw for the entire device from BME (ASUI's battery applet does this) but there is no way that I know of to get current usage for each component. I think the android devices that report this data have individual sensors for each supported component. Or they know how much current each component draws in various states and are able to guesstimate.

It appears that Modest breaks ASUI's blank window when it checks for email, even if you don't have any new mail. This will cause problems when the screen is off but not locked because ASUI won't be able to catch the tap that wakes the screen. It also causes audio lock to stop working since the blank window can't catch the keys and the secondary unlock key may become difficult to enter.

Entering flight mode and disabling Modest checks before entering audio lock will solve this problem but you may still experience issues with the wake up tap if your screen times out while Modest notifications are enabled.

This is related to the issue of ASUI not being able to grab focus when a menu is open. Although in this case it seems Modest is stealing focus away from ASUI's blank window. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this?

If there's any other email app that can do one minute notifications, as well as sounding a chime upon a new message, I'd be willing to switch.

I only use Modest for the notices, not the actual app itself.

Claws-mail can do both of these and is a much better email client overall.

I just enabled led, sound and banner in claws and set auto-check to 1 minute. You need to have system sounds turned on (level 1 or 2) and email LED notifications in the control panel for them to work. You also need to have claws running since it can't check your mail otherwise. This can be a good thing since you only have to close the claws app when you don't want it to check in the background (no gconf hacks or stopping services).

Audio lock and other ASUI functionality have no problems when claws is running and auto-checking email.

Funny how modest seems to have broken a whole bunch of things, but never really fixed what was wrong with the mail program in the first place...

Can you run asui dd ; asui k ; asui rd , redo your layout, press ctrl-c to kill ASUI and then run asui s. Do you have to redo your layout when ASUI starts after killing the debug binary?
