It could be possible to detect the window ID or WM_CLASS name of the modest notification and send the close or minimize signal to the window manager.
Notifications also close when clicking them, so an alternative would be to send a mouse click.

Sorry it took me so long to do this. I've been on only intermittently lately due to now having a night job.

Anyway, the answer is yes. Once again it is only the custom button layout along the top bar. The custom widget layout remains static throughout any changes.

Here's the log file. I'm about to reflash, but I will test everything again later tonight.

The custom layout is only getting corrupted if command buttons are added to the top bar. Using the command buttons as widgets instead allows for my custom layout to persist between reboots.

I was wondering why i had not seen the issue at my end, as i had a command button hiding out as a widget button (sharing the lower right with the settings button, as i have no need for a GPS control).

Is there a more gentle way of running this command?

sudo dsp_dld

When I do this from Xterm, my tablet tends to reboot.

I have no idea what this does, but it's needed to restore sound in Garnet VM since it goes out quite often on me.

Try /etc/init.d/dsp-init restart

/etc/init.d/dsp-init restart
Nope.

sudo /etc/init.d/dsp-init restart
Nope.

sudo dsp_dld
Endless reboot.

I had to pull my battery twice.

I do have sound back in Garnet VM now.

Next time I'll try
root
dsp_dld
since that was what I was doing before and had no problems with this.

I thought the other command was the exact same so that's why I shortened it down to something simpler.

I guess you can't do this.

According to ASUI settings, there is no 'restart' for dsp-init. Try 'start' or 'stop' and then 'start' or try using ASUI settings service manager, the service is called "AUDIO -- DSP".

Edit: In case anyone cares http://maemo.qzx.com/service-matrix.png - the BSR columns are boot, start/stop, restart. The numeric columns are start runlevels and stop runlevels.

/etc/init.d/dsp-init stop
*long pause*
/etc/init.d/dsp-init start

Messed around with your AUDIO -- DSP, stopping it, unchecking it, checking it and ran the above commands again.

Did the same as above using sudo instead.

Still no sound in Garnet.

Anyway, I stopped Modest, thinking that might have been the cause lately then
root
dsp_dld

Rebooted three times, it kept making it all the way to 100% on the loading screen but then would reboot again.

I think it's finally back to normal now.

Maybe I should take the dsp_dld file, copy and rename it and run it not as root? I don't know.

EDIT:
I spoke too soon. It's in an endless reboot (50+ times).

It makes it to 100% on the loading screen but doesn't get to the Desktop.

I think it's now because the battery is low, but whenever I try to charge it, the tablet immediately tries to boot.

Any help on this?

2nd EDIT:

Well, after about 90 minutes of it rebooting, I finally got my desktop back. Whew.

It still would be great to find another way to do that whole dsp_dld thing.

If anyone has an idea, I'd be happy to test it.
