Sad just sad.
N900 my last Nokia.
Another great brand bites the dust. Sorry for all those that will lose their jobs over this.
Nokia is now just another phone maker turning out the same stuff as the others but with a higher cost per phone and will lose even more money and market share.

At least I now have a HTC Desire HD to play with to get used to Android for when the N900 dies on me as all phones do over time.

I will not be surprised if some general consumers saw it as a good move as it seems to them Nokia is doing SOMETHING new rather then just mucking along.
I do agree that this forum is hardly representative of the general public, unfortunately the general public all know how bad WP7 is, I would regard many of my friends as phone zombies who would buy anything with shinny bits and even most of those "have heard" that WP7 sux.

Nokia should have built on the neche' smart phone market they had, the n900 is proof of a good concept just poorely executed. Making a phone like the n900 more accesable would have been a better angle of attack as apposed to dropping it mere months after it's release.

Meego is not altogether abandoned.

Dropped 10.39 percent already??? That's one subtle reaction to Elop's decision indeed!

Nope, WP7 does not allow unsigned native CAB to be installed, that is even crushing its own ecosystem that WM has been building for years.

Not even Symbian has ever stooped that low.

That's not cold, that's the very definition of irony.

Just ordered my second N900... For spare parts / backup / whatever, I highly doubt I'll be buying a new pocket device in a while - it will be hard to go back to smartish-phones or walled-in-gardens after owning an N900. Really hard!

That's funny! You know, that lil' @#%^ Elop made this move to pad his compensation, which very likely is tied to the share price.

ATM, I don't care if it drops and drops and get delisted. Is Intel going to put resources into Meego?
