Ah, thanks. I was just curious because the N900 worked perfectly with non-smartphone data plans on Tmo.

Don't try to cut the SIM into a micro-sim yourself. That's the mistake i made and ended up with a useless SIM. You need a micro sim like one shown on this blog (second one, on the right) i.e. sim metal contacts should be towards right instead of center

Had to ultimately go to a T-Mo store to get a new micro sim for 20$, they activated it in the store.

I getting the n9 on friday. i am currently using the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S2. Im on the 10$ medianet plan with no issues on my GS2.

For those in the USA on ATT and use the 10$/15$ unlimited medianet plan (non-smartphone Plan). Are you still able to use the plan? I don't want to put the sim in and discover i was bumped to a smartphone data plan.

thanks

If you call cust care and complain that you are getting a sim error and believe it can be from changing devices they will offer a new sim free.

Then let them know you will be getting a new device soon that is goong to require a micro sim and if they could please mark your accoint as such sobyou do nobhsve to pay for the sim and can continue using tmo service.

Wah lah. When you go in tue store ur account is marked and they should justgive you the new sim and swap it for you.

I am on vacation in the philippines. I got my N9 the day I was leaving to come here. When I got here I paid for a suntel internet sim card. I went up stairs in the mall to an edgecom store and asked them t cutit int a mocrosim. They charged me 2 bucks and they used the same sim card cutter I bought from Amazon. After I stuck it in my N9 it did not work. After examing the wear lines on my own working tmobile sim from the US and the non working suntel sim I decided to cut a sliver off the top, flipping it upside down to form a spacer and placing the sliver at the bottom so as to push the rest of it to the top. It now works.

I've been trying to upload pictures of it for the last 3 days but I can't get photobucket to work.

Would appreciate some insight from some already US N9 owners:

I'm off contract, and am wondering which carrier would be a good choice to go with (the N9 works with virtually any GSM carrier, so no worries there). I'm particularly curious about the visual voicemail aspect of the phone - does the N9 have visual voicemail? I know certain carriers/plans can be finicky about this in particular (aka iPhone on T-Mobile), so I was wondering which plans/carriers you guys were on, and whether or not visual voicemail was working for you?

Thanks much!

I bought a sim cutter from Amazon - it cut my sim into a micro-sim well enough. There were a few rough spots on one side.

T-Mobile will charge $20 for replacing your sim with a micro-sim. I just couldn't wait - had to connect the phone as soon as it arrived (sort of instant gratification kind of guy)

Don't worry, they just filmed it in slow motion for propaganda sake.
Meanwhile the line has been adjusted to spew out the next billion of WP7 phones (with Nokia logo).
