Is anyone else thinking about taking the Alternate.de "Finanzierung"? Has anyone used it before? 6x90€ is looking like a good way to get the N900 without getting a 24-month contract or paying 500-600€ all in one go...

You should consider doing this!
If you can call the Support of Alternate and ask them on the Conditions for non German costumers.
Maybe the have fees and so on for non German costumers
As for myself I will wait until O2 will has the N900, you can buy the newest Phones with financing via the o2 Site.
I hope the will have it in some time!

My pre-order (posted end of sept) got cancelled as well due to an incomplete credit card transaction.
Being a) not able to properly run an an online store and b) cancelling the order without notice and, thus, deleting me from the early delivery list is a behaviour of a company which DOES NOT NEED CUSTOMERS.
Anyway, took a closer look to Android 2.0 and the Motorola Milestone today ...
