Noob question: since i've had backedup correctelly rootfs and optsf, should the restore be possible without the last bootmenu update ? i'm talking about the "path for evkey" thing...

Format is really simple. Use this example file for /etc/bootmenu.d/backupmenu.item
Code:
ITEM_NAME="BackupMenu (Internal flash)"
ITEM_ID="nand"
ITEM_LINUXRC="<path to sh script>"
I'd like to release new version of bootmenu (with fixed path for evkey) but I'm not sure if backupmenu will be working if it does not provide correct bootmenu item file.
Is somebody trying to implement proper bootmenu entry for this backupmenu? I'm not using backupmenu, but I see future problems with u-boot or bootmenu if it still try to execute some script in bootmenu entry file...

Pali,

Just tested it, it worked fine, so I hope I did the right test

I created the following bootmenu file (/etc/bootmenu.d/backupmenu.item):
Code:
ITEM_NAME="BackupMenu (Internal flash)"
ITEM_ID="nand"
ITEM_LINUXRC="/usr/share/backupmenu/BackupMenuLauncher.item"
After a reboot I had the option (2nd one) in bootmenu (1.12) to start backupmenu. I could start it succesfully. Rebooting with the slider closed started my default kernel again.

If the test had to be otherwise, let me know.

@ade: if it working without modifing other backupmenu scripts, can you update backupmenu deb package? After testing by other users it should be updated in Extras too!

I can update the backupmenu deb package and probably have it available for testing a few hours from now.

Maybe robbiethe1st want to do a repo upload later since it is this program...?

As asked by Pali I created an updated package (1.1.1-2) which includes the modified backupmenu.item. If the latest version 1.1.1-1 is installed, only this single file should be updated in the process.

edit: link removed because it is now picked up by the author himself.

During boot with keyboard slide out, bootmenu should start and present you with the option to start backupmenu as one of the choices.

Please report any issues if found.

ade, thanks!

2 notes how to improve package:
* delete bugtracker line from debian/control, because is invalid
* delete vim swap file ./usr/share/backupmenu/.functions.sh.swp

You are right, I noticed that quite a while ago too (at least the swapfile). But I simply reused the content of the existing version 1.1.1-1 for now. Is robbiethe1st still maintaining this program?

Anyway, I will fix that if robbiethe1st does not update his program anymore.

Ok, minor updates:
1. Updated version.
2. md5summed the IMEI for my DB
3. Fixed BootMenu compatibility; the newest BootMenu version worked for me finally, so I can add that file ade pointed out.

Now, I need some stuff from you guys - Votes for extras on the packages that BM depends on:
http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...3.0.2-1maemo3/
and
http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...90606-1maemo1/

You'll need a Garage account to vote, then just scroll down and click the thumbs-up button.

This will help to get BackupMenu into extras.
