I gave some updates on my blog lately.
Thanks for the "thanks".

Just wait a bit more and you can re-install Gnumeric and have a better Xournal experience too!

For you people having issues with Xournal, could you please tell me if the same issues appear on the desktop version of Xournal ?
It would be really helpful to know if issues arises because of the port to Maemo or are already present in Xournal itself.

If the case is the latter, then would be greatly appreciated if you could inform the original Xournal author about those.

Just to point out, that there's a new version upstream with some neat features:

COOL!

Xournal has been added to the OS2008 site as one of the featured apps!!
Go to the OS2008 now with your tablet to check it out

Thank you guys for all the feedback.

A small update: the deadline I am facing for a paper submission I am working on, has been postponed to Monday April 7th.
This means that I will have time to improve Xournal with all the feedback you guys gave me and to put it in the "maemo extras" repository.

PS: I know, in the OS2008 Featured Apps I am listed as the Xournal developer, while I am not. I am going to write the Maemo team to let them know about the mistake.
When I will release the 7th version of the Xournal Port I will also inform the Xournal developer about it in order to have my patches upstream.

Thank you very much!!

EDIT: Xournal's also listed as made from "Nokia or commercial partners" :-)
Of course it is not or I'd be very happy eheh

Ok guys,

just wanted to let you know that I started working on the port again since today.
I'll port the newest version of Xournal, try to add the help file, and see what can be added from the feedback I received.

I will also contact the main author of Xournal and try to make my patches into the upstream version.

Stay tuned for good news.

UPDATE: I am about to upload a first version of Xournal 0.4.2.1 to maemo-extras.
This first version just incorporates my patches and the new Xournal version. I have not worked, yet, on your past feedback or any other visible changes.
I spent a whole day fighting with packaging.

So far I have been able to remove a bunch of dependencies. This should result in a smaller package.
The conflict with Gnumeric has been fixed too. And so are other conflicts that would have arose if I would have kept Xournal on my own repository.

I just finished packaging it for both ARMEL and i386 targets, let me try it first on the real tablet and then I will upload it.

Talk to you in a bit (may be after dinner :-p)

While I finish testing and fixing a few issues, I want to let you guys know that you should remove the old version of Xournal and remove my own repository before installing this new one.

Okay...seems to work.

I have an issue with my private key and right now I am not able to upload Xournal to Maemo Extras.

In the meanwhile you can go ahead and install them manually, if you can't wait, from the following links (follow the order):

http://mango.dia.unisa.it/maemo/libg...ook2_armel.deb
http://mango.dia.unisa.it/maemo/libg...ook2_armel.deb
http://mango.dia.unisa.it/maemo/xour...ook4_armel.deb

***WARNING****
If you have an old version of Xournal remove it!
Remove also the "ghostscript" package, even if this is optional for now (it will later substituted by "gs").

If you want, you can remove Xournal from the command line (root):

dpkg -r libart-2.0
dpkg -r libgnomecanvas
dpkg -r libgnomeprint2.2
dpkg -r ghostscript (OPTIONAL)
dpkg -r xournal

and then install the debs above.

Tomorrow I will fix the upload to maemo-extras, so I strongly suggest you to wait.
After that I will start working on new features for the port.

Please, let me know of ANY issues you might have.
And sorry for the trouble of upgrading from version 0.4.1, but I assure you next upgrades will be smoother
