Actually the only aspect I get hung up on (and with the comic as well) has to do with fuel for the jet boots. But again, I just suspend disbelief and enjoy the fictional ride...

Yeah. That's the problem. I shouldn't have to strain at all.
You know what it is? Any movie that dares to show computer interfaces better do a damn good job of making it believable, otherwise I get cheezed off. And a 3D interactive interface is distant-future-magical; how does it know when you're "touching" something and when you're just "passing through"? etc, etc...

in the movie, i assumed the boots were repulser thrusters not chemical fueled....as evidenced by the line that the mark 1 chestpiece was never designed for sustained flight.
