my analysis from PR1.1 to PR1.1.1:

description:

1. yellow lines with pink dots in the middle are the areas where i did different things. ^^

2. areas from left to right:
* idle (wlan on) PR1.1
* short charge and then the software update to PR1.1.1 (high cpu usage -> fast battery draining)
* charging again
* playing halo 3 (on xbox360 - not n900 xD) and listening to music with n900 (battery drains middle-fast)
* charging again
* idle (wlan on) PR1.1.1
* charging (moved over some modded files)
* (no dot - last area) installed desktop execution command widget and played around a bit

3. red lines are tangents (blue dot as tangent point) for PR1.1 (top line) and PR1.1.1 (bottom line) IDLE (wlan on)

overall (for the first few hours after updating) there seem to be some optimizations
(this bug seems to be fixed: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6615)

I simply love the battery-eye application! However, I have some problems. The first time I installed it, it did not generate an graph, but after a reinstall, It worked perfectly for a couple of days. But then again the graph stopped being drawn. After yet another reinstall it worked just for a few hours (see attached image). A reboot does not help

The most disturbing behavior I encountered concerns the standby consumption, that manifests different slopes even if the same conditions was applied (no wifi, 2.5G connection, PR 1.1.1).

In the first plateau, 6:30-10:30, the slope is almost flat, ideal. The second, third, fourth, and fifth plateaus, occurs with the same slope, dramatically slanting. The latter plateau shows an average slope.

Sometimes it's enough to just switch on and off the screen (with the sliding button in the right side) AND NOTHING ELSE to make the slope worst!

What's the explanation??

I think there could be huge gains if the device were optimized. However, NOKIA has not been efficient at anything else, no reason to think they will suddenly get a clue, especially when this was a Legacy device the day it was released apparently.

The straight lines would suggest the screen has been off. In my experience the meter updates about once every 2 hours unless the screen is activated.. As the author said, drawing a line between the points of measure creates the false impression that we know what happened in between

I would fully expect that the longer the device has sat with screen off, the less steep the curve will look, as the consumption that took place when screen was on becomes a much smaller part of the total consumption between the two points.

on a day trip to Vienna by train I had extremely high batt consumption while normal usage (some Skype, some GPS+Maps, some emails, some SMS, some Notes...)
I found out two things:
1. setting internet connection to automatic connect any network is sucking battery fast when moving around.
2. Setting to connect to WiFi automatically but not 3G is okay while at home but while walking and shopping it sucks too much.

Leaving connection manual is so much better if there is no power outlet in reach.
