Yes, the Hydrocarbon theme is based on joppu's Carbon theme. I have never claimed its originality. Check the changelog for the attribution to the original author.
As to not being licensed to modifications, let me quote what the copyright file says in the original Carbon theme:

I just had no idea packages were being distributed under such a permissive license by default
I know what the license means, it's just some Nokia leftovers, as you can see from the line

Those are from gtkr -files right? They have Nokia copyright since they are generated by autobuilder using hildon-theme-tools and that copyright isn't a mistake.

No harm in a bit of common courtesy, manners and patience for joppu to finish his exams...
I love this theme by the way, thank you joppu, and although I'm probably on my own, I actually like the edges in multi column lists..
i really want to like this theme because it kinda looks like its cellshaded, but there is just too much dark colors on top of dark colors. grey grey grey. it looks repetitive somehow... for example the loading bar, which is dark grey with a grey bar with black text on it.
i think it needs some flashy highlights.
