so after a test run, i shall give my opinion 
the widget works great, rds tags are showing good. i'm using fmboost for amplifying the signal, without it the rds sometimes show and sometimes not(due signal strength).
The fmOn button is kinda small so a few taps are needed to hit it right.
Small to do list(if possible)
Make the FmOn/FmOff button bigger to hit.
Let the icon of the FmOn/FmOff button change depending on tx status
If the sms/music/phone tags are on, let the white icon dissapear and vice versa.
Perhaps implementing Fmboost would be cool?
if these points are due of my crappy UI design lemme know how i can change them to get the right result!
overall a great widget! needs to get in the repo's fast =D

icon should change yes but look like there is transparent colour, result is that i show green on top of white. You can test yourself by creating a new svg file with red / green icon. btw i ll try to do a small hack to fix thatYes FMBoost is pretty nice i look to activate it here too
And i need to work on SMS part to show it on car radio same for people name instead of phone number

argh i cant get it to work, installed qt homescreen loader, dpkg-i'd latest download, chmod'd in hildon-desktop, still aint in my add widget menu and i'm still getting the syntax error if ran from xterm. 
i'm such a noob!

@Babel0 and maharadja - thanks again! any objections to me updating the first post to reflect the progress made here, collate links, install instructions as they currently are, along with skin instructions?
ps. is there tag lines for skins to include the default media player controls without using the default media player widget? as i imagine most other skins wont incorporate the default widget in the same manner as this one does.
