ArchiMark: You're going to have to enable (remove the #) the "lenny" repository in /etc/apt/sources.list and try again. There may be some fallout when you begin upgrading such fundamental components.
Could those having problems with synaptic please open a terminal and type
and post the output here?Code:sudo debian synaptic
$ sudo debian synaptic sudo: debian: command not found
$ sudo ./usr/sbin/synaptic

OK, just wondering....if I see an app that's available for Debian on x86 PC's, how difficult/much work is it for a developer if I ask them to provide (recompile?..) a version that would run on our lil' N900??

Virtually all applications in the Debian distribution come precompiled for the armel architecture. If for some reason they aren't, like wine, chances are that it is not possible at all to just recompile for armel.
ThinkingRock - Platform requirements
Thinking Rock is a pure Java application and should run on any platform with a correct Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
For Mac and Linux you will need JRE version 1.5.0 or later. For MS Windows you will need JRE version 1.6.0 or later.
For Mac you will also need Mac OS 10.4 or later.
TR has been tested on Linux (Fedora 4), Mac OS X (10.5.5), Windows (XP) and Windows Vista.

I have a bad internet connection so i DL it via PC and move it to main folder (N900)
Now when i run the debtimage install, it always asks for internet connection and trying to download the image again...
And this causing duplicate images in the main folder..

It is impossible to get "duplicate images" so maybe you're downloading the wrong image. Make sure you're grabbing this one:
debian-m5-v3d.img.ext2.lzma
(EDIT: You can unzip it on your computer with 7zip)
