Yes, sucess.

I have software running. I would like to thank all the help.

It was not the instalation location, nor the sygic.desktop definitions. Neither the ini files.

Changing the regional settings from Portuguese/Portugal to English(uk)/UK solved the problem.

Now i would like to ask sygic support to look in to this issue because i would like (and all the portuguese customers) to use my native language in n900.

Thank you All

Got it activated, but there's a problem:

I use an external Holux Bluetooth GPS. It works perfectly fine with Maemo Mapper and everything I throw at it, in the N900, but Sygic has a problem.
When I click on the GPS section I get the familiar circle which should show the satellite positions, plus the list of satellites which should show signal strength.

The problem is that although Sygic is able to read the _position_ from the GPS just fine (lat/lon is fine, so is GPS clock, and altitude and speed), it doesn't see the signal strength/satellite position information. And then it decides that there is no GPS signal! Is Sygic reading the GPS info in some peculiar way? This was a big disappointment, as I heard others got BT GPS working.

My version appears to be 7.71.7763

EDIT:
Actually, I retract part of the above: Maemo Mapper doesn't see #sats in view, #sats in use etc., but it sees everything else.Unlike Sygic it doesn't choke on that though, it accepts all the other values (position/time/alt/speed/heading). I used the same GPS with Maemo Mapper on the N800, where all those additional details (sats/signal strenght/sats in view) are also visible.

So, the questions become:
1) What on earth is the gpsd interface on the N900 doing, missing that information?
2) Why will not Sygic work with the information it can definitely see, which is position, speed, altitude, heading, time.

You can configure the NMEA data a GPS will send (using command sequences). One of the "sentences" is "GSA" which describes the satellite data that you're missing, and it's probably disabled.

This is a good read:

If you're interested I could post the command string you'd have to send to reenable it.

@SygicSupport
Would you say the Maemo release has been a success sales figure wise? Any early figures/downloads.
Just asking outloud cos we all know better sales figures=better software support+updates.
Great product by the way, it is just what my N900 was lacking. Don't really care now if Nokia bring out Ovi voice nav as this is much better.
Im loving the openess and changable features on this, been able to personalise it is great.

I have some concerns:
Is there coming any routing improvements? Routing is very quick, but in many cases the route is quite weird. And usually A->B route is different than route B->A...
I have just returned from a interesting ride courtesy of my Sygic satnav. My normal route home (Suffolk) tonight was was blocked up by bad traffic near Ipswich, so I fired up the Sygic and selected an alternative route and ended up on a magcal mystery tour. Even though I have the quickest route option checked in the settings menu it diverted me onto an hour and a half diversion and I had to select an alternative route a couple more times to get the ETA time down. Then towards the end when I was fairly near home and I got myself back onto track by getting onto a main road that passes right by my place, it then kept trying to divert me away from the most direct route by attempting to send me down country lanes going in a completely different direction.

Also last night in North London I had to travel south to Guildford and again it took me on a strange route, in the end I stopped and got my old N95 out of the boot and used the Garmin XT installed on it as I could not afford to be late to my destination.

I'll keep trying it out for now, and if tonights journey is anything to go by at least I'll get to see some new places!
