Wrong a year ago and wrong every day since.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this site, like most any other site, can't be conveniently categorized as just a group of frustrated users and can't-be-bothered enthusiasts.

Reductionist absolutism is a quick way to the bottom. Enjoy it there.
Thank you for saving me time.

Don't underestimate yourself!

I stand corrected. Sjgadsby, Laughing Man and BrentDC have shown that I was wrong to assume that no one has a satisfactory out-of-the-box experience with the tablet. It's a good reminder that "no generalization is worth a damn, including this one." I think my generalizations work more often than not, but they aren't absolute rules, and I should have been clear about that.

You, on the other hand, have convincingly demonstrated the us vs. them mentality I was trying to describe and the utter contempt some of your fellow enthusiasts display toward anyone who does not entirely endorse your own peculiar fervor. I'm not going to press the "me too" button, but I should thank you for providing a perfect illustration.

Your rage seems a perfect match for the original poster's. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?

Take care.

Oh my word, yes. Prior to buying my N800, a Palm T5 with a WiFi SDIO card was my pocket web computer. Leaving Blazer, which took an eternity to load only the first bit of average-sized web pages, rendered poorly what it did load, and locked up the entire OS every five minutes, was pure joy.

Before that, I used the Eudora web browser on a HandEra 330 with a CompactFlash WiFi card. The web was image and JavaScript free, and Google searches only worked by writing the search URL manually.

Sure, the N800 and N810 can, at times, be a little slow loading large, complex, web pages heavy with JavaScript, images, and Flash, but they're loading large, complex web pages heavy with JavaScript, images, and Flash. (See: Louis CK)

Since then I started booting off an SD Card, tried 4 different alternate OS's (KDE, Mer, Android, Debian), use Easy-Debian on an everyday basis, installed hundreds of applications...
If only AccessoryLink.co.uk would finally fix their shopping cart (trolly?) system to allow shipping to me, I'd repair my N800 and play. However, as long as I have only one working tablet, I'm not willing to test too much. My tablet is my main personal computer, and I don't like having it unavailable for even the short time a reflash and restore takes.
