I too get this locking problem. It takes more than 10 minutes to identify the location you're in.
How do I change the settings of Location Server? I don't find them under Settings..>Location

If you have a GPS problem, try this:
1-deactivate all programs/software/widgets that use GPS
2-disable GPS (internal & server)
3-reboot
4-activate GPS

I am located in NY, however my N900 takes forever to lock and when it does, it friggin tells me I am in Valencia Spain! I assumed it was some sort of factory default but I have been unable to fix it
location server - supl.google.com
internet connection - epc.tmobile.net
and i am getting a location very quickly - even indoors - now for a better mapping utility...
