same problem here, update today to 43 works fine.
Upadte to 44, problem on reboot. i shutdown my phone exit battery, and start my phone it boot to last kernel.

Now on 44:
no leds, orange on charging, blue on missing call.

(off course i go in setting to verify if it's enabled, but no chance)

I've downloaded the latest to my device but not sure how to save it to MyDocs or copy it there via xterm or filemamager

ha?!?!! got it roll-back to original.
took out the battery 1st, plug-in the USB cable, then put-back the battery, and u'll able to see 'nokia' logo with USB logo on top-right, during that time, make sure hold-'U' key....
*i dunno why... but it required me few times to get into 'update-mode'.
once u get into update-mode... just follow the following step...

*make sure u have PR1.3 firmware and flasher tools ready.

I thought I was going to have to reflash pr1.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I searched the flashing tutorial, combined the reflash and kernel only commands into THIS:

C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.
002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R
flasher v2.5.2 (Sep 24 2009)

Ran it from Start>Run>cmd

And within 3 seconds My N900 was flashed back to the stock kernel!!!!!!!!!! I didn't lose anything! It is like the reboot loop never happened!!!!

This is MAJOR news to me (maybe not to you) but everytime I mess up, I always reinstall the firmware wich is very time consuming. NOW I know I can just install the kernel through the Windows flasher and within seconds, all is exactly as it was before I messed it up!!!!!

Wow. I just knew I was going to spend the next hour restoring applications...

EDIT: Here is the command to use via command line once you navigate to your folder's location if different from mines:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R

Just want to mention that I today first updated to power42 with no problems and just updated to power44. Again no problems. U-boot shows up on start and I'll have to wait some ten seconds but then it loads and everything works fine. On first updated I also installed new fcam drivers and took som pics with power42: worked perfectly with maemo camera and with bless900 too.

Everytime I go to install Enhanced Linux Kernel For Power Users, it pulls in version 41 instead of 44. I have extras-devel enabled. Where are you all getting 44 from?

The latest FCAM drivers are required for FCAM or Bless to work with the new kernel 42, I've not tried with 44.

Download to your N900/MyDocs folder

sudo gainroot

cd MyDocs

dpkg -i fcam-drivers_1.0.7-1_armel.deb (press tab after typing fcam to autocomplete)

reboot

That's what I did and that worked
I used copy and paste for the commands and I put the driver deb in .documents

installed 44 today. and sound does not work.
When starting, I have to enter the pin. And even then there is no click and no vibration with the new kernel. And the nokia-handshake-film is not shown. When fully started, pulsaudio does not run and the volume-Buttons don't do anything. Mediaplayer states that it can't play any media. I tried 44 and 43. Both have the same problem.
I Downgraded to 42 and everything is fine again. Is there anything I can do to help debugging this problem ?
