On entering this I didn't get a responce on XTerm however having opened the Xbox media remote it now seems to be working, having pointed the N900 directly at the Xbox IR reader.

Hopefully it will now work? If so it is a great christmas present for me!

Thanks for all your time and assistance.

I'm glad you finally have it working Merry Christmas.

The best test is to turn off/on your N900 and try running the app when it starts up.

which tells the N900 directly, to send the power command to an Xbox 360, make sure your IR port is directly pointing at the IR sensor on the Xbox 360 (which is below the DVD tray). And good luck.
I got it to work with just /opt/usr/bin/xbox360-media-remote
Thanks for all the help

Belated X-mas, kids got an Xbox and this remote works like a charm. Most of the buttons are right, just a little small. I have large fingers. So the only thing I see to accomodate that would be the remote being broken down into 3 screens or just a bigger scrollable remote,
Distance is good, getting about 6ft. in the low postion and about 12ft. when mounted high. I loved messing with the kids in the middle of there game!
"Mom! Dad is using his phone to mess with the Xbox” PRICELESS!!!!
and a minimize button to send it to the desktop, thanks again.

Did you catch this post?

He managed to feature WiFi support on his.

He also has the source code available.

Any chance you could steal some of his work for your project?

Happy new year Addison

I could be totally wrong here but I think these are two completely different things. xbmc is not the same as the official xbox360 media player. AFAIK xbmc was a homebrew project that was developed for the original xbox but now runs on pcs and many other things too. meaning even if they developed it to be controlled by wifi it is not relevant to the xbox360 media remote. It will not be possible to control the 360 through wifi unless MS implemented some network control feature on the actual 360 media player and AFAIK they haven't. You are stuck with IR only I'm afraid.

Heya Cue!

Yeah! Happy New Year to you as well!

Actually, I only have an old, original Xbox and an older tablet than yours.

I'm cheap, but not easy.

But yeah, I'm hoping for anything other than the IR remote.

Right now, I use XBMC every day but have to access it by a web page.

It's not bad, but it would be nice to have a few more features than what I'm currently using.
