Game over Samsung, game over. With midrange plastic (other phones suck because plastic) device at 549$ iPhone not only now holds the world's balls in its fist, also FBI's fingerprint database is going to have a happy day! Making the world a safer place (cue in 1984 apple commercial)

Anyone know the software potential or possibilities with a 64-bit processor?

for example more than 4GB RAM, but i doubt, Apple took advantage of this
but i have to say, at least Photoshop and Firefox are really faster in 64bit version, than in 32bit version.

[OT]It is a common misconception that 32-bit CPUs cannot use more than 4GB RAM. It is true that they cannot use more than 4GB at a time but that is not the same thing. I used ye good ole Z80 with only a 16 bit address bus (limiting the RAM to 64KB) with 256KB! A decent memory manager is all you need.

Edit: In current 32-bit OSes that would translate to a limit of 4GB per process but not a limit to how much memory you can have installed din your machine.[/OT]

Windows and Linux 32 bit will only detect 4 GB of RAM, so I don't know where you are getting your info from. Sure, the board will detect more, but you need a 64 bit OS to take advantage of it. And of course you can install more, the motherboard limits you on physical RAM, the OS limits how much you can use.

no, linux has full PAE support allowing it to use over 4GB of physical address space in a 32 bit system

only individual processes are limited to 4GB
