Many devs were unwilling to commit (any) dev time to porting existing Qt based applications for the N9 for a number of reasons, the N9 Stillbirth being one of them. Issues with the Nokia SDK build machine, the absolute SHITE state of the nokia app store and hopeless distribution system, not to mention the wait for payments.....
Add to that, a complete lack of advertising for the platform and absolutely NO incentives by Nokia, and there's why.
It's not a matter of hate for ACL (a few purists excluded) but genuine interest and concern for the means of integration with the core OS and UX, which are all valid.
ACL (like Android Player for BB10) is another tool and provides a little bit of leverage for any fence sitters who may be holding back on purchasing because they can't publicly distribute a photo of some stirfry they bought from a street vendor in Bangkok.....

That last bit you say like hardly any real applications will be missing, when I saw real I mean actual useful applications. But we'll see, sure it'll more likely then not encourage lazy devs but everything comes with a pro and con, the end user shouldn't care so much because as long as the app works they can't complain and devs get to write in whatever they please

Perhaps you've missed some of the earlier posts in this thread...
There's disdain for a ACL being part of the equation from quite a few users, some of them high-profile/respected members.
I can see their point, but I still don't 100% agree with their logic...
I was going to post that but figured it'd be incomprehensible for most users here, I know it was largely for me
