Nice!

I wonder where their pre-orders stand in line, compared with the 1st and 2nd ('Finland only') pre-orders rounds that we already know about.

He spoke about not being open as in "not telling what they are doing" right away. Yet, he didn't really clarify about how this translates to before and after the release, and whether they'll open up code later, and will make the development more open as well.

HTC has 16K employees. Nokia 97K. Sony 146K. LG 220K. Samsung 425K. We are 80 (no Ks here, just 80).

...

We are so tiny that our company is probably the size of the cleaning department in any of the companies mentioned above.

Good point, people here should think about that before bitching here!

Well, open source != open development, although they to exactly that in most parts of SailfishOS.

I like the whole blogpost except the part of Apple. Sure, iPhone didn't break because of spec, but iPhone had a design(read screen) and GUI like no one else. Sure jolla has a new os, but the concept of the device brings nothing that makes the masses through their current phone away.

I wish them good luck though.

Question is what of the stuff from Jolla SailfishOS does to be opened atm? I think open up everything is not the biggest issue for the community atm.

I think the biggest issue is that there is too few involved in mer/nemo from the community side. For example were are all the open source sailfishapps?

How many is ported from harmattan to nemo, sailfish so far?

Its so damn easy to critizise companys for not being open but what about the community too using the time to port existing apps to start with that?

And latter on we can talk about what is important to open up.

However there ARE stuff they could tell us for example what apps will be chipped from start.

* Is there a native spotify client or should we ask the community participaten to make a good one?

* What about diaspora integration

and so on..
