Thank you! I am still confused, however. Which of these files do I need to flash the latest firmware?

http://www.mrcrab.net/nokia/Nokia_N9...n=40.2012.21.3

There are so many of them and the guide doesn't tell which one(s) I require. Most of the files are under 10 kb in size but there's also two over 1 GB files.

If you want to flash the emmc, you need both 1.55 and 1.16 gb file, otherwise only DFL61 HARMATTAN 40.2012.21-3 PR LEGACY 001-OEM1-958 ARM.bin

EDIT: You dont need those files in KBs..

Yes, You need nokia account to download apps from nokia store. No relation between nokia account and developer mode AFAIK.

I downloaded the latest J260 images from mrcrab.net website. At least it seems to be the latest. But it fails to flash. The phone was updated over the air (years ago). I suspect I need a later variant but I don't know where to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

This is from the mrcrab.net website:

[Phone Name : Nokia N9
Product Type : RM-696

Varian Name : RM-696 NDT LTA BLACK 16GB

Here is the log for flashing:

Your log clearly states: you have variant 006 on device and you want to flash with an image of variant 001.
You need to grab an image with variant number 006 (best, or higher).

Yes, I understand that. The problem is - where are the variants and how can you tell what the variant is? I don't see anything clearly marked as variant 006 for the 059J260 model. On the mrcrab.net site there is a variant ID but it doesn't appear to correspond to 001 or 006.
